Here what we know about Ethel at KU
Ann and I both searched through every yearbook from 1923 through 1929 for evidence of the felt jayhawk in photos or in blurbs about the Jay Janes or sporting events.
While we did not find any mention of the jayhawk in the yearbooks, we do have photos of Ethel during her time here.
Ethel appears as a junior and senior in the 1925-26 and the 1926-27 yearbooks.
In her junior year, Ethel is listed as a member of the History Club and the Dramatic Club. However, she is not listed as a member nor is she pictured with the Jay Janes.

However, she was at KU during the time of the "Duck" Jayhawk created by James O'Bryon and George Hollingbery in 1922 and in use from 1923-1929 when the "Angry" Jayhawk took over. (See Link)
